The Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Ministry of Transport, Dr. Vera Ndidi Sam-Dike, today led Heads of Departments (HODs) in the ministry on an inspection tour of major marine facilities across the state.
The facilities visited included Nembe, Bonny/Bille, Marine Base, and Witt and Buche jetties.
The inspection tour was aimed at assessing the condition of the facilities by monitoring their operations and identifying areas requiring improvement to enhance marine transportation services across the State.
During the exercise, the Permanent Secretary and the Heads of Departments inspected the facilities to obtain first-hand information on their operational conditions and identify challenges affecting their effective management.
The exercise, according to the Permanent Secretary, underscores the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening the monitoring and supervision of marine transportation facilities to ensure a safer, more efficient and reliable water transportation system in the state.
