The Chairman of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA), Sir Chukwu Shedrack Ogbogu, has denied insinuation that he ordered the stoppage of African Democratic Congress (ADC) rally in the area.
He has also distanced himself from allegations of plotting to kill members of the party.
In an official statement made available to the public, Sir Ogbogu said that he was not aware of any planned rally by the ADC and, as such, could not have been invloved in any plan to stop it.
According to him, “I wish to state categorically that the news making the rounds on social media that I stopped the ADC from holding its rally is false, baseless and unfounded.
“It was spearheaded by mischief makers to score cheap popularity. My administration is committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that all political activities within ONELGA are conducted peacefully and in accordance with the law.”
He reiterated his commitment to his duties and assured all inhabitants of ONELGA that he will continue to carry out his primary responsibility of protecting lives, properties, and interests of the people.
The council boss pledged to provide a safe and secure environment for all residents, regardless of their political affiliations.
