The Rivers State Government has expressed its readiness to collaborate with the Federal College of Education (Technical), Omoku, to strengthen the training and production of qualified manpower for schools across the state.

The Head of Service of Rivers State, Dr. Inyingi S. I. Brown, gave the assurance when she received a delegation from the college led by its Acting Provost, Dr. Ndu N. F. Amadike.

She stressed the importance of stronger collaboration between the state government and the institution, noting that the college currently remains the only institution producing graduates with the National Certificate in Education (NCE), which provides essential middle-level manpower for primary and secondary schools.

She also congratulated the management of the college for successfully organising its long-awaited convocation ceremony, describing the achievement as significant given that previous administrations were unable to accomplish it.

The Head of Service further advised the Governing Council of the institution to pay a courtesy visit on the Governor to formally appreciate his support and use the opportunity to seek further assistance, particularly in the planned relocation of the college to its permanent site.

Dr. Brown thanked the delegation for the visit and disclosed that the written report of her earlier visit to the institution where she represented the state governor at the convocation ceremony had already been submitted to the Governor.

Earlier in his remarks, the Acting Provost, Dr. Ndu N. F. Amadike, expressed gratitude to the Governor for his concern for the college despite it being a federal government-owned institution.

He appealed for continued support from the state government to enable the institution meet up some critical requirements necessary for its survival and growth.

Dr. Amadike explained that the delegation visited the Head of Service to appreciate the Governor for his show of goodwill towards the college and to commend the development strides taking place in the state.

He also prayed for God’s protection for the Governor, expressing confidence that he would continue to deliver the dividends of good governance to the people of Rivers State.
