Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has charged the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries in the state’s Civil Service to remain faithful to their oath of office by upholding fairness, integrity, and impartiality in the discharge of their duties, irrespective of the status of those they serve.
He gave the charge during the swearing-in ceremony of 12 newly appointed Permanent Secretaries held at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Port Harcourt, yesterday.
Addressing the appointees, the Governor said the oath of office they had just taken should serve as their guiding principle throughout their service.
“I do not have any other charge. The charge is the oath you’ve taken. The oath spells it out: do right to all — every man and woman. Do right to your State, and do right to the Federal Republic of Nigeria”, he said.
He reminded the newly sworn-in Permanent Secretaries that their appointments represent an elevation to the highest managerial cadre of the Rivers State Civil Service, and urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by demonstrating unwavering loyalty to the state and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The Governor expressed confidence that their appointment at this critical time would strengthen the capacity of his administration to deliver on its development agenda.
He stressed that the appointments were not for personal benefit, but a call to selfless service aimed at advancing the progress of Rivers State.
“It is a call to service. You are the heads of your ministries, wherever you may be posted. You are at the peak of the managerial cadre of the civil service, the highest level of our service.
“You are at the head, so you need to perform as those entrusted with leadership. I believe your coming on board will bring positive changes and greater effectiveness to the system.
“When we are done with our own, I believe your good work will help whoever succeeds us to continue the good work in our dear state”, he stated.
The 12 newly sworn-in Permanent Secretaries are Freddy Ndigbara, Fortune Akpila, Dr. Promise Oguzie, Ibisoye Lolomari Nwankwo, Ibiyemibara Joseph Uzoma, Mercy Dagogo Iboroma, Dr. Vincent Worgu Wachukwu, Ifeanyi Anthony Ogboma, Dr. Mina Gogo Jim-Jaja, Henry Uzor, Chimenum Anebo Mpi, and Dr. Mina Tele Ikuru.
