The Chairman of Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area, Hon. James A. James, has expressed gratitude to God Almighty and the people of the area for their support and cooperation during the first year of his administration.

Speaking as he marked his first anniversary in office, Hon. James described the past year as a successful one, attributing the achievements recorded by his administration to the mercy and goodness of God, as well as the unalloyed support of the people of Opobo/Nkoro.

The Council Chairman assured the people that his administration would build on the modest achievements recorded in its first year, and promised to complete ongoing projects, expand development initiatives and deliver more dividends of democracy to the people.

He further pledged to intensify efforts towards making Opobo/Nkoro “a heaven on earth,” while appealing to the people to sustain their support, cooperation and loyalty to the administration.

James said his administration remained committed to improving the lives of the people through sustainable development initiatives and effective service delivery.

It would be recalled that Hon. James assumed office as Chairman of Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area on September 1, 2025.

Since assuming office, the Chairman and his team have focused on key areas, including security, infrastructural development, social welfare, youth empowerment, healthcare delivery and rural development across the LGA.

In security, the administration, within its first year, procured vehicles for various security outfits operating in the LGA. It also constructed security posts to improve the working conditions of security personnel and repaired and refurbished security facilities in Opobo and Nkoro towns.

The administration also provided security gadgets and other logistics to enhance surveillance and security operations across the local government area.

Residents of Opobo/Nkoro have commended the administration for what they described as a remarkable start, and expressed optimism that the Chairman will sustain the momentum and continue to implement programmes and projects that will positively impact the people.
