The Mayor of Port Harcourt Local Government Area (PHALGA), Sir Allwell Ihunda, DSSRS, has assured residents of Port Harcourt City that his administration will focus on security of lives and property of residents. According to him, security is paramount for the attainment of societal progress and is one cardinal objective of every responsible government. Sir Ihunda gave this assurance at the formal handover ceremony from his predecessor, Barr. Samuel Kalagbor, DSSRS, at the Council’s Secretariat in Port Harcourt.
Sir Ihunda, who was Mayor of Port. Harcourt City from 2021 to 2024 promised that this second coming will be a consolidation and will focus on people oriented projects alongside healthcare, sanitation, and education.
Correspondent Carol Ibinabo Mathew reports that the Mayor appealed to the people for their maximum cooperation and support for the LGA to record high performance and achieve set goals.

The Mayor thanked the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (Rtd) for ensuring that peace is sustained in Rivers State. He also thanked the former Administrator of Port Harcourt City for maintaining peace in the LGA and “supporting the State Sole Administrator and Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) by ensuring a smooth, fair, and credible election was conducted in Port Harcourt.”

In his speech, the former Administrator of the LGA, Barr. Kalagbor, congratulated Sir Ihunda on his victory at the polls. He further thanked the Administrator of the State for the opportunity given to him to serve the people.
He appreciated the Council staff for the coorperation he received from them during his administration and appealed that the same cooperation be extended to his successor.
