RSG Commends NRISE Over Youth Development Initiative

The Rivers State Government has commended the NNPC Renaissance Initiative for Sustainable Enterprise (NRISE) for its youth development programme across the Niger Delta States.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Patrick Ndukue, gave the commendation yesterday, in Port Harcourt, during the graduation ceremony of over 200 beneficiaries of various skills training programmes.

He said the beneficiaries had a responsibility to build on the skills they had acquired and use them to contribute meaningfully to the economy, including through the payment of taxes to the government.

He also encouraged the trainees to make progress in their respective fields so that they could, in turn, train and empower others in the future.

The Permanent Secretary lauded NRISE for initiating the training programme in communities across the Niger Delta, noting that such interventions would not only equip young people with valuable skills, but also help curb youth restiveness in oil-bearing communities.

In his remarks, the General Manager, Government and Community Relations, Evans Krukrubo, said the event marked two significant milestones: the graduation of participants from the development programme and the successful completion of an intensive enterprise development programme by 215 outstanding trainees from eight Niger Delta States.

He explained that the enterprise development programme equipped participants with essential business skills, including the development of business plans.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of certificates and awards to the graduating trainees.
