Rivers State Deputy Governor Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu has expressed the need for the three ties of government and the private sector to synergize efforts to fast track holistic development in our communities

Prof Odu stated this during the commissioning of Ogbogu Secondary School in Ogba Egbema Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, on Wednesday, 24th September, 2024.

According to the Deputy Governor, what we witnessing is unprecedented, commissioning of over ten projects, and flagging off ten projects in one day within Egi ,Prof Odu expressed the hope that the Community would protect the projects jealously because that is the way to say thank you.

According to her we cannot thank President Ahmed Bola Tinubu enough, because it is during his time that the Petroleum Industry Act swung into full action and Obagi Host Community Development Trust is a Flagg bearer and it is worthy of commendation.

She also expressed gratitude to the National Assembly for passing the policy into law, noting that before now funds were sent to communities but were not utilized the way it is now.

“I want to say it is a demonstration of synergy between the Federal, State, Community, Total and other Partners, it only tells us that when we work together we achieve more and we remain focused, my prayer is that this synergy should increase and grow bigger and bigger.”The Deputy Governor further stressed.

Prof. Odu also commended Chief Dike Hopeson, Board Chairman Obagi Host Community Development Trust for his focus and determination to succeed.

In his remarks the Chairman, Senate Committee on Host Communities. Senator Benson Agadaga attributed the relative peace enjoyed by host communities to the achievement of the Petroleum Industry Act while commending the Obagi Host Community Development Trust for its developmental strides urged host communities that have not set up their HDT to set up without further delay.

Also speaking the Managing Director / Chief Executive Total Energies Upstream Companies in Nigeria Mr.Matthieu Bouyer said they have been able to identify 500 projects across 60 communities in the area of infrastructure, education, human capacity development , economic empowerment and healthcare.
