Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area (LGA), Dr. Chidi Lloyd, has charged residents of the area to actively participate in the on-going Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise scheduled to hold from 29th September to 10th October 2025, as part of their civic responsibility.
He made the call in a press statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Bright Jossy, in Port Harcourt.
Dr. Lloyd emphasized that voting is a fundamental right of every eligible citizen and encouraged all qualified residents to seize the opportunity to register or update their voter information.
He announced that the Council has made provisions for logistics and transportation to facilitate the participation of residents across the 14 wards of the Local Government.
The LGA boss specifically urged individuals who have just turned 18, those wishing to transfer their polling units to Emohua, persons with defaced or misplaced Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), and anyone requiring corrections or updates to their voter information, to visit the INEC Office in Emohua Council Headquarters between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. daily during the registration period.
According to the Chairman, the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to sensitize and mobilize residents on the importance of their participation in the electoral process and to ensure a smooth ward-to-ward voter registration schedule across the LGA.
Dr. Lloyd described the CVR exercise as an opportunity for the people of Emohua to prepare themselves to actively take part in electing credible leaders in the next general elections.
Speaking on the initiative via a phone interview, the Leader of the Renewed Hope Initiative in Egbeda (Ward 10), Hon. Chile Ordu, lauded Dr. Lloyd’s efforts, calling the move commendable and unprecedented in the area.
Hon. Ordu noted that the voter registration drive will help reduce voter apathy and increase political participation, particularly among young people.
He added that the effort would also strengthen the chances of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the polls.
