Hon. Wobodo during one of the visits.

The Executive Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area (LGA), Hon. Charles Wobodo, has embarked on an official tour of various wards across the LGA to appreciate community members for what he called their unwavering support, and to assess their most pressing needs with the aim of addressing them.

During the visits, community leaders and residents presented requests for critical infrastructure.

Such requests include the construction of schools to improve access to quality education, a police station to enhance security, the expansion of local markets, maintenance of the motor park to support economic activities, and restoration of electricity to improve the general standard of living.

Hon. Wobodo assured the communities that their concerns would be addressed within the financial and logistical capacity of the Council.

He stated that delegates would be deployed to conduct feasibility studies on the proposed projects, paving the way for timely execution and job creation.

In a bid to encourage civic participation, the Chairman urged residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), pledging that transportation would be provided to INEC offices to ease the registration process ahead of the upcoming elections.

Hon. Wobodo also announced that the Federal Government would soon deploy officials tasked with monitoring and prosecuting individuals who engage in open defecation or fail to install proper sanitation facilities, in line with national public health directives.

Speaking during the visit, Hon. Limchi Nyeche, member representing Ikwerre Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, commended the Chairman’s effort to engage directly with the grassroots.

He noted that while it may be impossible to meet all community needs at once, it is essential to begin projects well and ensure their successful completion.

Lending his voice, former Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Hon. Ezemonye, applauded the Chairman’s visit to Ward 5 in Omerelu Community, and pledged his support for the expansion of the main market in the area.

In his closing remarks, Hon. Aselem expressed appreciation to the Chairman for his visit and reaffirmed the community’s commitment to supporting the Chairman’s leadership and developmental agenda.
