Supervisors taking the Oath of Office during their swearing-in.

Degema Local Government Area (DELGA) Chairman, Hon. Michael John Williams, has sworn-in a new batch of political aides comprising Supervisors, Special Advisers, Special Assistants, and Media Aides.

The swearing-in ceremony, hels today, at the council secretariat’s marriage registry hall, drew hundreds of appointees and stakeholders from across Degema’s various communities.

Addressing the newly appointed officials, Hon. Williams called for unity and cooperation, and encouraged them to work closely with community members, particularly those who were not included in the current list of appointments.

He stressed that the responsibility of developing the LGA rests on collective effort, not on the number of appointments made.

Hon. Williams disclosed that the council appointed over 200 persons, noting that some appointments were deliberately not made public for internal administrative reasons.

While stating that he has the political will to expand the list to 1,000 appointees, he explained that the council lacks the financial capacity to sustain such a number.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of Degema citizens, adding that the appointments reflect his dedication to inclusive governance.

Emphasizing the need for competence, unity, and peace, he charged the new appointees to contribute meaningfully to the LGA’s progress.

He said, “Today, we gather to witness the swearing-in of new executive members who will join our team in driving the development of Degema Local Government Area.

“As we take this momentous step, we are reminded of the immense responsibility that lies ahead. Our community is blessed with abundant natural resources, but we must work tirelessly to ensure that these resources translate into tangible benefits for our people.

“I charge each of you to be champions of transparency, accountability, and inclusivity in your respective roles. Let us work together to attract investments, improve infrastructure, and enhance the quality of life for our citizens.
