The Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP) has threatened to remove beneficiaries of its programmes that do not have the National Identification Number (NIN).

The Executive Secretary/ Chief Executive Officer of RIVCHPP, Dr. Vetty Agala, who made the clarification in her office in Port Harcourt Monday, while chatting with journalists, said that the warning had become necessary to inform enrollees of the urgent need to obtain their NIN, as stipulated by the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) in order to continue to enjoy unfettered services of RIVCHPP.

Dr. Agala announced that of the over 109,000 beneficiaries already enrolled by RIVCHPP, only about 15, 000 have the required national identification number.

She also tasked existing beneficiaries of RIVCHPP’s health insurance packages to obtain their NIN and submit by September 2025.

Dr. Agala reiterated that though the agency is out to cater to the health needs of Rivers residents without allowing them to suffer financial strain when needed, those without the needed NIN would no longer access care and services provided by RIVCHPP.

The RIVCHPP boss disclosed that the agency is willing and ready to give Rivers residents the opportunity to access quality healthcare services without paying astronomically but that the right things must be done.
