The Leader of the Andoni Legislative Council, Hon. Atunu Boma-Douglas has assured the people of Andoni that his leadership will be accessible and responsive to their needs.
In an exclusive interview, Hon. Boma-Douglas emphasized that the legislative arm will prioritize the voices of the people over “godfathers” and work collaboratively with the executive arm to pass laws that benefit the people of Andoni.
“We will be open to the people, not to godfathers,” he stated, adding that “We will not allow godfatherism to overshadow legislators. We will stand our ground and see how we can work with the executive to ensure we pass laws that will support and assist our people”.
Hon. Boma-Douglas highlighted key focus areas to include sanitation, which he believes is crucial for the well-being of the Andoni.
“I think the past administration, under the leadership of the Sole Administrator, Surv. Atajit Francis did very well concerning sanitation in Andoni.
“We are going to do better. We will work in synergy with the executive arm of government to ensure that sanitation is carried out effectively,” he stressed.
The Legislative Council’s priorities will include creating by-laws on issues such as sanitation, markets, and school security.
The lawmaker assured the people that they will work tirelessly to serve their interests and deliver on their mandate.
“We can not disappoint our people. They trust us. We were voted to go and represent them. Their votes took us to the legislature, so we will listen to them,” the leader stated.
He concluded by expressing his commitment to working with the Chairman, Hon. Lucky Promise-Otuo to drive development in Andoni.
“We will ensure we work with the executive to deliver on our mandate of delivering President Bola Tinubu come 2027,” he summed up.
