The Chairman of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area (LGA), Hon. Aboiyaa Bob-Fubara, has presented the 2026 Appropriation Bill to the Akuku-Toru Legislative Assembly.

The proposed budget, tagged “Budget of Inclusive Growth, Development and Renewed Hope,” has a total outlay of ₦14,930,980,576.72 for the 2026 fiscal year.

According to the Chairman, the budget is strategically designed to enhance effective service delivery across the 17 Wards of the LGA.

Presenting the bill before members of the Assembly, Hon. Bob-Fubara explained that the 2026 Appropriation Bill represents a departure from the traditional perception of budgeting as a mere routine exercise.

He described the document as a development-driven financial plan aimed at addressing people-oriented needs, stimulating economic growth, and improving the overall quality of life across communities in Akuku-Toru.

The Chairman assured the lawmakers that the full implementation of the proposed budget would adequately address the developmental needs of the LGA.

He identified education, security, and community development as the three major priority sectors, while emphasizing that other sectors would also receive adequate attention.

Bob-Fubara noted that his administration would continue to collaborate closely with security agencies and community leaders to ensure the safety of lives and properties across all wards of the local government area.

He further disclosed that funding for the budget will come from three major revenue sources: Statutory Allocation from the Federation Account estimated at ₦12,822,865,576.72; Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), projected at ₦108,115,000.00; and Loans/Borrowings capped at ₦2,000,000,000.00.

He also assured that his administration would avoid plunging the local government into excessive debt.

The total projected revenue for the 2026 fiscal year stands at ₦14,930,980,576.72, which corresponds with the proposed expenditure.

The Chairman added that the expenditure framework prioritizes capital projects over recurrent spending, with targeted investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, sports development, economic empowerment, and other critical sectors.

Affirming his administration’s commitment to prudent governance, Hon. Bob-Fubara assured the Assembly that transparency, accountability, and effective service delivery would remain the guiding principles for the implementation of the budget.

He also pledged to provide periodic financial updates to the Legislative Assembly and the general public.

In his concluding remarks, the Chairman emphasized that the 2026 Appropriation Bill is not merely symbolic, but a realistic, implementable, and technically sound financial plan aimed at promoting sustainable growth, development, and renewed hope for the people of Akuku-Toru.

Responding on behalf of the legislature, the Leader of the 10th Akuku-Toru Legislative Assembly, Rt. Hon. Daye Bobmanuel, assured the Chairman of the full cooperation of the seventeen councillors in advancing the development agenda of the local government.

He commended the Chairman for prioritizing sectors that directly impact the welfare of the people and pledged that the bill would receive expeditious legislative consideration.
